BARBARESCO: THE QUEEN OF NEBBIOLO

Day 4

Start your day at your own pace, enjoying the villa’s tranquil setting before venturing to the Barbaresco region. Known as the "Queen of Nebbiolo," Barbaresco wines are celebrated for their elegance and finesse.

Our first stop is Marchesi di Grésy, a historic estate dating back to 1797, where you’ll tour the vineyard and sample their exquisite wines. Lunch follows at a traditional trattoria, featuring hearty local dishes that perfectly complement the wines.

In the afternoon, explore the stunning Castle Monteu Roero, with its frescoed halls, ancient library, and fascinating history. Conclude the visit with a grappa tasting from the Berta family distillery before returning to the villa for a brief rest. The evening culminates with dinner at a highly recommended restaurant surrounded by vineyards.

ARTISANS OF THE LAND

Day 5

The day begins with a visit to Gamba cooperage, where you’ll witness the centuries-old craft of barrel-making. Watch as artisans skillfully toast and assemble barrels, essential to the aging of fine wines.

Next, visit Cocchi, a renowned producer of vermouth, where you’ll learn about the intricate process of aromatizing wines with herbs and spices. Enjoy a family-style lunch featuring dishes prepared with recipes passed down through generations.

After some relaxation time back at the villa, head to Villaggio Narrante and the Fontanafredda estate, a historic village and winery founded by King Vittorio Emanuele II’s son. Tour the grounds, taste the wines, and dine in the heart of this bionatural reserve before returning to the villa.

THE HUNT FOR TRUFFLES

Day 6

Begin the day with a visit to Banfi Winery’s Piedmont facility in Strevi, where you’ll explore their sparkling wines, Gavi, Dolcetto d’Acqui, and Barbara d’Asti.

After a delectable lunch, head into the forest for an unforgettable truffle hunt. Guided by a local trifolau and his expertly trained dog, you’ll search for the region’s prized black and Alba white truffles. Wear sturdy shoes, as the terrain can be muddy! After the hunt, sample truffle-infused products and other local delicacies.

The day concludes with a scenic dinner at Rabayà, a restaurant owned by a member of the Grasso winemaking family. Dine al fresco on the terrace, soaking in panoramic views of the surrounding hills.
